This release packs in a brand new feature that is going to become very popular: Custom Fields. There is now a management interface for adding your own custom fields to issues, so for example if you want a drop-down with EmployeeID or something like that with every issue you can now do that.

Last release since the experimental release a few weeks ago. This release paves the way for a new more exciting release.

A bug fix release that fixes one important bug to do with followup drafts. Before this fix you wouldn't be able to continue on saved followup drafts that don't have an action.

15 new features and 19 bugs fixed. That's 34 important changes which is sufficient to increase the version number from 0.8 to 0.9. But there's more to come!

The current SVN version now has 70 functional unit tests (aka. integration tests in Zope):

 Ran 70 tests with 0 failures and 0 errors in 1.270 seconds.

A new feature has been added that helps avoid the annoying notifications that go out about issues you've already participated in.

Only one "important" bug fix in this release relating to a Javascript bug and more big changes are about to happen so it's good to get a release out first.

Bumping up the version minor number to 8 because some rather important changes: Unicode!

The automatic refresh (when viewing an issue) used to happen every 40 seconds. That's now been changed to happen every 3 seconds (to start with).

The latest SVN version now stores the name, title and description as Unicode (using UTF-8 for the encoding by default). This does mean that a lot of things have changed. Read on if you're interested in making this work for the next release.

12 bug fixes and 4 new features in this release. The most interesting new feature is the captchas for preventing spambots to write spam into publically available IssueTrackerProduct instances. That's been 100% successful on real.issuetrackerproduct.com and demo.issuetrackerproduct.com without being too intrusive.

Sourceforge's crappy CVS service has now had to give way for Google Code's SVN.

I know that the development of the IssueTrackerProduct has been a bit slow this summer. Then it helps when people give encouragement. This fell into my inbox today sent from my peterbe.com personal website:

One of the people on the issuetracker mailinglist, Greg Baker, has chipped in a very interesting answer on the topic of Plone integration and customization. Greg has managed to patch up his issuetracker not only to change the look & feel but also to add lots of alien fields to go with the issues.

This is a long waited development release which fixes a couple of critical bugs such as issues being submitted as "no name or email" even if we know the name and email. One important new feature is the spam protection support for public issuetrackers.

Forgot to release the latest changes of slimmer so that we're now skipping from the 0.1.17 directly to this 0.1.20

For a very long time, the Add Issue page has had a URL field which you had to have. I've noticed how rarely this this used so I decided to remove it.

Finally the Configure the menu management screen is finished. With this you can change what items appear in the tabbed menu and the links at the bottom of each screen.

A new bugfixed release of CheckoutableTemplates. Just one little bugfix but it might be important to some of you.

This is the stable followup release after version 0.7.0. Now four little bugs have been fixed (none major).

Eleven new features and six fixed bugs in this new release. So many changes that it's gone from version 0.6 to 0.7. The most important improvement is probably the email-in feature but there are some really interesting Javascript enhancements too.

There is now a first draft of a page that lists some of the most interesting features that the IssueTrackerProduct has.

The search feature has been enormously optimized for the next release. Until now, the search function has included a search for file attachments using the ZopeFind function which is very slow. And the search for file attachments has also doubled in intelligence.

A new feature in the next IssueTrackerProduct release refreshes the page of an issue when you're looking at it. It does so by periodically doing an AJAX check for the issues timestamp and if there is a change to the issue it refreshes the page without you loosing the state of that page.

CookeCrumblerIssueTrackerProduct is a subclass of Shane Hathaway's CookieCrumbler product which makes it possible to login for two weeks rather than just one session. The templates are written in ZPT which makes them easier to maintain.

There are now enough user stories to go live with it. Currently there are only 5 approved user stories but by showing what other people write, the hope is that this will make more people enter their stories.

CheckoutableTemplates minor updates. The showCheckoutableTemplates view is slightly improved and now XHTML Transitional compatible.

This release is mostly relatively minor bug fixes and some refactoring to the main template (StandardHeader.zpt).

If you're using the keyboard shortcuts feature in the IssueTrackerProduct this is for you, or if you're not using it but would if it became much better; then this is for you.

Most changes in this release are bug fixes but this release is still set as Development because of some few but major new features relating to the interface.

This is mainly a bug fix release (12 bug fixes, 5 new features) where the possibly most important bug fix is that the IssueTrackerProduct is now fully working on Zope 2.8.0 which at the time of writing is the "current stable version" on zope.org.

A new HowTo has been added that shows how you can enable a "luxury" feature that attempts to calculate an estimate of the overall status progress. The more completed issues you have in your issuetracker, the higher the score.

The IssueTrackerProduct is now compatible with Zope 2.8.0 which a lot of people have reported having problems with.

The 0.6.10 release fixes three bugs and introduces two new features. There are two important bug fixes that was the reason for this release being made so soon after 0.6.9.

On the Statistics page there is a now a bar chart showing how issues are distributed by status.

This release is considered development because it's got more new features than it has bug fixes (10 new features and 8 bug fixes). The most exciting new feature is the usage of AJAX to enhance the interface without making any requirements for modern browsers. The second most exciting feature is that of Issue Report Scripts.

There's a new HowTo now about how to see the current selection of issues in CSV format. The feature is hidden under the Advanced properties and this HowTo explains how to dig it out and what it does.

There's a new HowTo about how to export all your issues to CSV so you can open them in OpenOffice or Excel.

The new autosave feature is now included in the CVS version for those few who use it. It's still beta because it only works for Add Issue and Quick Add Issue so far.

SpamBayes is probably the best non-enterprise anti-spam tool there is today. It assumes nothing and you have to teach it from scratch. That's a bit annoying but once you've trained it it rarely gets it wrong like Gmail does

There is a new HowTo added about how to override the default stylesheets with a much less trivial way than CheckoutableTemplates.

There's a new HowTo published about how to hide the followups with a request variable when viewing an issue.

The 0.6.8 release is a minor bug fix one with only two really minor new features (if there is such a thing). What's important in this release is a bug fix for those who use the BTreeFolder2 storage option.

The auto save feature that has been planned for a long time has finally begun materialising. It only works for the Add Issue page yet but it's a very promising start.

The 0.6.7 release is a pure bug fix release. It solves one rather silly bug which made it impossible create a new Issue User Folder.

A new slimmer module has been released. This one has a bug fix that does not damage "Holly-hacks" in CSS which is used in the IssueTrackerProduct to rescue Windows IE6 users.

As of the 0.6.7 release there is a finally an option to change assignments. The option to change an assignment is only given to the person it currently points to. This completes Real#0045

17 new features and 16 bug fixes makes the 0.6.6 one of the most exciting releases since the semi-rewrite 0.6 release. This release is considered a Development release because of the number of new features.

On peterbe.com there's a little something about how to improve the drop downs on the Add Issue page that users of the IssueTrackerProduct should consider.

For some time Windows IE6 users who use the IssueTrackerProduct have had problems with text that disappear. In a way it's Microsoft's fault for implementing their webbrowser in a non-conforming way but that ignorance was ignored.

Have you ever had an issue tracker filled with so many issues that it becomes difficult to navigate in the ZMI without your browser stalling? If so, read on.

The Properties tab inside the ZMI has got itself a serious upgrade. Nothing has changed that affects the actual properties, this change just makes the Properties tab easier to use.

Finally there's a How To section on this website. It's still a bit slim in mass but at least it's there.

There is finally an entry now in Wikipedia about the IssueTrackerProduct written by yours truely.

The O.6.5 release is a quick errata for the 0.6.4 release that was published yesterday. This release has one single bug fix that was related to the Update Everything button.

The 0.6.4 release adds several new features such as the user-friendly system error pages, auto-login for Issue Users, Compact List Issues, ZCTextIndex support amongst others. In total there are more new features than bug fixes. But don't let that scare you.

The Download page has a few lines of advise about how to use CVS access (via SourceForge) download the IssueTrackerProduct. Now I have added a bit more to help you save those precious milliseconds.

New feature that I have personally been missing. When you list issues you can now chose between a "Rich" and "Compact" list style. This new feature is going to be included in the 0.6.4 release but can be checked out from CVS today.

The 0.1.11 release of slimmer fixes a bug in js_slimmer() which caused some showstopping in some cases.

The 0.6.3 release is a relatively urgent errata for the 0.6.2 release. It turned out the 0.6.2 version made CheckoutableTemplates a requirement.

The second 0.6 release is finally here. It's a mixture of bug fixes and new features. This is the first release with the new add new section feature. There are also several good bug fixes if you've got templates checked out. CHANGES.txt

A new feature has been added for the next release that makes it possible to add a new section in Add Issue instead of being restricted to the current options.

If you want to test sending emails into the Demo or the Real issue trackers you can do that now.

Yesterday I committed to CVS a faulty version where the Utils.uniqify() function scrambled up the sort order of any list.

Some major improvements to slimmer. The whitespace optimising script that slims your CSS, HTML and XHTML scripts and the JavaScript in those HTML and XHTML files too.

When an issue is submitted via email there is now a little email icon displayed next to the title as shown in this screenshot. Plus any signatures in the email is shaded out.

The latest comment on the IssueTrackerProduct Survey made me smile:

Now this website has a RSS feed of the news items. It will contain exactly what you read on the website's News but in XML format.
